Rave Reviews at Kick-Off of Australian Tour

UPDATE MAY 15, 2011

Australia and New Zealand Appearances Kick Off in Perth October 19
Special Guest is Legend Steve Winwood

After dazzling audiences with their first ever Down-Under shows in 2007, jazz rock icons STEELY DAN are returning for an encore tour in October. The multi-Grammy Award winning artists will play arena concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Christchurch and Auckland along with several gigs at A Day At The Green events in both countries.

And in a real treat for music lovers, special guest is the legendary Steve Winwood, singer and keyboardist in the iconic bands Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith. This will be Winwood's first visit to the continent in decades.

The chance to see two of music's most revered and multi-Grammy Award winning artists on one stage is undoubtedly a night not to be missed.

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 23 via Ticketmaster.com.au (Australia) and Ticketmaster.co.nz or Ticketek.co.nz (New Zealand), with presales for ticket vendors and venues starting now. Presale for Frontier Touring members begins May 17 via Frontier Touring.

"Jazz-Rock Ambassadors to the Galaxy" Set to
Bring Their Show Coast-to-Coast This Summer

Rock & Roll Hall of Famers STEELY DAN dazzled both the public and the critics in 2009 with their classic-albums-in-full Rent Party Tour. Responding to overwhelming popular demand, Steely Dan masterminds Walter Becker and Donald Fagen bring on more action with the Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven summer tour.  The tour, which kicks off in Seattle on July 2nd and concludes in [update] Boston New Zealand on September 28th November 5th, will showcase greatest hits and deep cuts alike. Select shows will also feature performances of complete classic albums, and set-lists determined by voting online [voting ends on show date]. Steely Dan have announced this year's program will also include special guests, and an idealistic strategy for World Peace. Acclaimed jazz artist Sam Yahel is on board as the tour's main support act in North America. [Update] The legendary Steve Winwood will be Steely Dan's special guest for their tour extension in Australia and New Zealand.

For Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven, Fagen and Becker bring back their awesome group of players, this year dubbed the Miles High Big Band: Keith Carlock (drums); Jon Herington (guitar); Freddie Washington (bass); Jim Beard (keys); Michael Leonhart, Walt Weiskopf, Roger Rosenberg and Jim Pugh (horns) — along with their saucy backup trio, the Embassy Brats: Carolyn Leonhart, Cindy Mizelle, and Catherine Russell.

They reunited in the early '90s and have toured throughout the decade and beyond, releasing multi-Grammy winner "Two Against Nature" in 2000 and its acclaimed follow-up "Everything Must Go" in 2003. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001

Critics raved about the performances on the Rent Party 2009 Tour, with the New York Times stating that Fagen "was deep in the music… a cross between Count Basie and Ray Charles," and The Boston Globe reporting that "Becker's fleet, gleaming guitar tones fairly bounced off the stage". The Chicago Sun-Times proclaimed: "This was different. This was live. This was vibrant. This was a cascade of color carried along by Fagen, Becker, eight brilliant supporting musicians and three superb backing vocalists." The Los Angeles Times raved: "Everyone gathered Friday evening was a believer – and they were treated to something close to rapture."
