yesss!!!! and about time someone pulled the plug on this website-gone-whack!!! There is important Steely work to be done right about now, and we don't want any foolishness getting in the way of THAT, now do we?

Look - when I was the official webmaster for the steely site, I took it as my number one responsibility to make damn sure that D & W were not distracted or overtaxed by their web chores. I'm thinking about the time I confiscated that damn Casio digital camera from Walter, man did he complain about that one! - and the next day the boys finished "Jack of Speed". Case closed. I had the interest of the fans in mind at all times you see - that's you and me, kids, are we not the fans? - I had the thankless task of making sure that things didn't get out of hand, and that's probably why I got the old heave-ho when the Pathfinder guys decided to drop the page from their server. You see, I never did much believe the reasons that were given for my dismissal - the accusations that I was somehow sabotaging the website by having secret meetings with the Pathfinder guys and the shortfall in my petty cash account. Sure I had a couple of lunches with Jake and Jan over at Pathfinder, at that lousy coffee shop they seemed to love - hell, Jake was trying to pay off his condo, he couldn't afford to take his business lunches at one of those swank midtown places. Sure, I guess I pointed out a couple of things on the site that I thought were in poor taste or otherwise reflected badly on the til-then-untarnished Dan legacy. And sure, my so-called girlfriend borrowed a few bucks from my cash drawer and forgot to put them back - she was a speed freak, as I found out later, and she stole a lot more than $1200 from the rest of her friends. In any case, these trumped-up accusations were the reasons given for firing me, but clearly I was being punished for putting the brakes on this web page thing when it started to get out of hand. Anyway I blew those Pathfinder clowns off when Jake asked me for Donald and Walter's email passwords and after Jan hit on me after we left the diner - God there are some terrible assholes in show business.

Luckily for me, I still have the job at Anodyne Technologies to keep me going - and lately I've been making a lot of overtime, because they seem to need a round-the-clock guard out in front of the lab that they're using for the clean room on the Penko project. It's a pretty responsible job and luckily I look better than most people do in brown. I figure that's why I lasted as long as I did at the Post Office and at United Parcel, what with the bad evaluations and all. And luckily I am in group therapy with a young lady who is a programmer over at Zentropy, and so I have the access codes to the site and will be able to make sure things don't get too crazy and maybe even make a little guest appearance once in a while, as I am doing now. Otherwise we'll be watching the big ball drop on the Millennium without having heard that new Steely album we've been waiting for - and that would be dead wrong. Right?

Les Weaver, SD Webmaster, Ret.
